Here's a peek at the latest release from Quietfire Design:
My project is a decorated storage box. I used a plant light box that was the right size to store my Quietfire Design winter/holiday stamps, dies, embossing folders, etc for this project. Use cardboard and cracker box pieces to reinforce the bottom of the box. Spray paint black. Make a wash of white glue and water. Crumple tissue paper, unfold and tear into pieces. Use glue wash and tissue to cover box exterior, being sure to add texture and ridges. Dry overnight. Use ink blending tool to apply Distress Inks (Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, Broken China, Worn
Lipstick). Add velcro tape for lid closure.
The rest is simply creating elements to be applied to the box with more glue wash. Here's an Enabler's List to tempt you astray :
Lid Panel: FlourishedNoel Set,
Here and There the Dark Pointed Firs, Spellbinders ResplendentRectangles, Brilliance Pearlescent Jade inkpad, Distress Stickles Rock Candy, gold gel pen
Front Panel: WarmWinter Wishes, ChristmasCuddlers Word Set, Spellbinders ResplendentRectangles, Spellbinders Small Deckled Mega Rectangles, Worn Lipstick Distress Ink
Right End Panel: Snowflakes are the Fairydust, Spellbinders ResplendentRectangles, Memory Box Frostyville Snowflake Border, Perfect Pearls Mist, Broken China Distress Ink
Back Panel: Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow (Large), FlourishedWintertime Images, Broken China Distress Ink
Left End Panel: Deck the Halls Set, Memory Box Frostyville Snowflake Border, Perfect Pearls Mists, red and green gel pens
Once assembled and dry, lightly rub Dusty Concord inkpad lightly over ridges to highlight texture. Allow to dry a few days and go over surface again with glue wash for a good sealer coat.
Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget to leave comments on all the Design Team blogs for chances to win prizes.
Good Luck!

Loving the crumpled tissue effect! What a brilliant idea! I steer away from covering boxes because I can never get the paper smooth...now you have given me the answer! messy and inky too...great fun! Beautiful box, really super! TFS
Hm-m-m. This time thinking "outside the box" meant actually ON the box. Great idea for organizing Christmas related "toys". I think we'd all probably need to make several. I love the Resplendent Rectangles die set, but even more I like how you built up the background on which to put the beautiful calligraphy. Thanks for the ideas.
wonderful project. Love the glue wash/tissue paper background. You used a lot of stamps - BIG GRIN
Have a great day
Wonderful Monica! Love the background! What a great treasure box!
Wanda, what an interesting thing to do with a plant box. Makes me want to play with tissue paper more often. It is not something I usually use. Carmen G.

Great idea! Love the crumpled effect. Thank you for sharing your creativity!
Nicely done. I have done a similar technique years ago using rice paper - never thought at the time to use tissue paper. Well done. I love your fur babies in your photo. I miss my 2 guys...Toby was a ginger and Zeus was black & white...they were brothers.

Beautiful project Monica - each side is beautiful just by itself then all that put together - i bet it is even more stunning in person as photos probably don't do it justice to get the 3-D effect.
