My project is a gatefold card.
Inside of card:
The background paper is done with Alcohol Inks and Silver Mixative on Tim Holtz Glassine Stash Paper. The glassine paper is an interesting product. The waxy surface means the alcohol inks don't dry quickly, giving you more time to work. I found that the first layer ended up showing predominately the silver mixative. Once I had good coverage I waved my hand back and forth to dry it. Then I worked with just the alcohol inks (Stream and Wild Plum) and the Blending Solution for another two layers until I was happy with the look. Once I had the look I wanted I heat set it for just a few seconds. No two pieces will be the same. Here's a portion of a spare sheet I made:
Then it's simply a matter of stamping and embossing, then cutting out the elements using Spellbinders Labels Four and Standard Circles Large. The scans don't show it but the white elements are made from a decorative paper that is pearlescent with a swirl pattern. Once the white elements are stamped and cut, put the die back over each element and use a small stipple brush to lightly swirl on some of the purple ink.
Cut a piece of purple Core'dinations cardstock to 5 1/2 x 10". Use a Scor-It board to score in 2 1/2" on either long end. Fold card then cut top and bottom with Spellbinders Classic Petal Edgeabilities. Assemble using Be Creative double-sided tape.
Enabler's List:
Butterfly Circles, May the Wings, set of 5 stamps
Tim Holtz Glassine Stash Paper Pad

As a cardmaker and also one who likes to make books or journals I'm always interested in seeing other peoples' art. I liked your idea. I often forget about multiple fold cards and I like them.
Love the purple and the alcohol ink background you have created!! It is nice that the rubber stamps work with the Nestibilities!!

Love the purple, and my list of supplies to go buy grows yet again! I'm also hesitant to go beyond the basic card so this is very inspiring to try and different fold as well as try out that glassine paper. Beautiful Monica!

Lovely colours and an interesting fold.
This is a really elegant card and everything works together. I love the alcohol ink on glassine-I'll have to try that as it looks brilliant.
Think the color scheme and design works very well together. Originally, I thought the purple-pointed background was attached to black cardstock, but upon looking at the card ingredients, I didn't see black cs mentioned, so I consider this card's design even more stunning. I love this gate fold card and I love your explanation of making the background, particularly your mention of adding colors in several layers. That was a new thought for me about this popular background technique--so I really appreciate that detail being included. I am curious how similar Tim's stash paper is to glossy white card stock which I have used for this technique.Your black cat in the sidebar kept me as fascinated with her/him as she/he appeared to be with my mouse's movements. Cute addition for the catlovers among us.
I love the color of course but also how it reminds me of lacy handkerchiefs. Inspiring.
what is not to love here? bravo!
Stunningly creative! I love it.
Absolutely Gorgeous Monica. Love, love the colours AND the colors, so delicous. It rocks!
